Normalizing Islam Series
Bio:

Islam lays within the crevice of the American oddity while it is said we all have freedom of religion others are demonized more than others. Through my conversion, I watched the misunderstanding and distaste towards Islam within our American society. The negative verdict towards Islam has been constructed for years and still holds up. The thesis comments on my viewpoint of this American oddity while I grow within my faith.

Normalizing Islam is about sharing, showing, and having others look into a faith that has been misrepresented. The thesis is reactionary to local news articles of Baltimore, personal experiences of islamophobia, and commentary on my conversion process. Sharing the truths of Islam with printed editions is the best way to break surrounding taboos of its practices, culture, and overall aiming towards sharing its normalcy. A way to repair relations is by showing the humanity of the faith I have learned to love through understanding, storytelling, and knowledge.
